How
Heroic Paws Works
At
Heroic Paws Inc., we believe that successful service dogs are developed through
early bonding, individualized training, and strong family involvement. Our
innovative approach places carefully selected puppies directly into their
future homes, allowing the dog and recipient to grow, learn, and succeed
together from the very beginning.
Step
1: Puppy Sourcing & Evaluation
Our
team works with responsible breeders and trusted partners to identify puppies
with the temperament, health, intelligence, and confidence required for service
work. Each puppy undergoes a thorough evaluation process that assesses:
Temperament and
stability
Social
confidence
Trainability
Environmental
adaptability
Health and
genetic background
Suitability for
service-related tasks
Only
puppies demonstrating the characteristics needed for service work move forward
in our program.
Step
2: Early Placement
Unlike
traditional programs that often place fully trained adult dogs, Heroic Paws
places puppies into approved homes between 8 and 12 weeks of age.
This
early placement allows the puppy to form a strong bond with the individual or
family they will ultimately serve. Research and experience show that these
early relationships create trust, confidence, and a deeper working partnership
throughout the dog's life.
Recipients
become active participants in the dog's development while receiving guidance
and support every step of the way.
Step
3: Personalized Training
Once
placed, each family receives ongoing training support from experienced service
dog trainers.
Training
is provided through:
In-home
training sessions
Virtual
coaching and instruction
Customized
training plans
Ongoing
progress evaluations
Family
education and support
Our
trainers work directly with clients to ensure training fits their lifestyle,
goals, and specific needs. This personalized approach creates consistency and
allows the dog to learn in the environment where it will live and work.
Step
4: Building a Service Dog Team
Service
dogs are more than highly trained animals—they are trusted partners. Throughout
the training process, we focus on developing a strong working relationship
between the dog and recipient.
Training
includes:
Basic obedience
Public access
skills
Socialization
Task-specific
training
Confidence
building
Real-world
exposure
As
training progresses, both the dog and recipient learn together, creating a
partnership built on trust, communication, and mutual understanding.
